Tony B.
I found this product disappointing for the price.
Firstly, the inner barrel is made of plastic. To make things worse, a screw thread at each end is ALL that keeps the front of the weapon together. I suspect that too much lateral force (and how much is TOO MUCH is only discovered after it breaks, right?) and it will break entirely. The inner barrel is a translucent red color that can bee seen through the outer, metal barrel, so it just doesn't look right. You could either paint it black and put up with it, or order a replacement, metal inner barrel like I did. Metal barrel adds another $100 to the overall cost and was only found overseas. It's not been received yet, so I can't comment on fitment.
Second, and more annoying problem. Of the 12 metal shells supplied with the weapon, two of them have already shown defects in gas sealing after ONE firing. I kid you not, one firing and they are already leaking heavily. Another observation, the 'firing plate' of these shells frequently don't return to their original position, and sometimes require the shell to be tapped against a surface to get them to pop back up into the position needed. If you need to do that, be cautious and pad the surface with something, so you don't cause damage to the shells.
The weapon presents very well in appearances but for the money I would have expected a metal barrel, NOT cheap plastic. The shells are a disappointment also. I don't think it's too much to ask for more reliability than I have found, especially with the cost of replacement ones being prohibitive if too many start playing up.
The good news is, you get a little bag of seals and springs with the purchase. I initially thought this was a nice thought, but have come to realise they are there for a reason. You'll need them to repair defective shells.
I think this will, through necessity, be mostly relegated to a static display, rather than get much use. I may feel differently when I get a metal inner barrel on, but time will tell.
Would I buy this if I knew the points written above: certainly not. Do I consider it worth $700; again, no.
